Cadets graduate from academy, to be sworn in Sept. 17

New Bedford Police cadets, front from left, Jonathan Fagundes, Gerald Harris Jr., Adam Amaro, Jessica Nicoli, Nathaniel Goncalo and Justice Andrade graduated Friday, Sept. 14 from the Massachusetts State Police Municipal Academy in New Braintree. They will be sworn in Monday, Sept. 17 as New Bedford police officers. There to watch their graduation and congratulate them were, top row from left, Lt. Evan Bielski, Chief Joseph Cordeiro and Deputy Chief Paul Oliveira. Cadet Harris was selected by his fellow recruits to receive the superior performance motivation award and the class leader award. Cadet Fagundes was selected by his fellow recruits to deliver the class speech and Cadets Amaro and Fagundes sang the national anthem.
