Officer Gregory Sirois saluted for solving case from behind the desk
Congratulations to Officer Gregory Sirois, who received a certificate of commendation from Police Chief Joseph Cordeiro Monday for his investigation into the robbery of several stores by a suspect who used a stun gun and fled in stolen vehicles. Using skills honed over 28 years in the department, including in the detective division, he was able to identify two suspects who were subsequently arrested and confessed.
He did this despite having limited mobility as a desk officer in station three. This is just one of many cases where he initiated an investigation from behind the desk, leading to successful resolution of cases and prosecution of criminals. His work is greatly appreciated, and he deserves all our thanks.
Chief Cordeiro praised Officer Sirois during a brief ceremony Monday at station three in the north end. “Officer Sirois, your enthusiastic and relentless investigative approach to policing is to be admired and promoted. It is this type of conduct that I have come to expect as a standard from officers of the New Bedford Police Department. For your outstanding actions which went above and beyond what would be expected, I hereby present you with this letter of commendation.”
