Ofc. Eric Boulay Given Life Saving Award

On Friday, July 26, the NBPD honored Ofc. Eric Boulay with its prestigious Life Saving Award for his exceptional response to save the life of another.
On March 31, Ofc. Boulay responded to a home in the City for a report of a 64-year-old female who was unconscious, not breathing, and had turned blue. Once on scene, Ofc. Boulay performed life-saving measures (CPR) on the female and was able to revive her. While waiting for EMS to arrive, she became unresponsive again with no pulse. Ofc. Boulay began to administer CPR a second time until EMS arrived and took over. A few days later, Captain Robert Holmes called a local hospital to get an update on the female and was informed that she was alive and resting. Her nurse thanked the NBPD for their quick response and for saving the female’s life. Capt. Holmes went on to say that Ofc. Boulay’s quick response, recognition of the severity of the medical emergency, immediate action, and effective CPR directly saved the female’s life.
“Ofc. Boulay’s dedication to duty, outstanding efforts, and service to his community are why I recommend that he be awarded the Lifesaving Award.”
It is essential that we recognize and honor those who exemplify bravery and selflessness in their service to others. Ofc. Boulay’s commitment to duty, combined with his ability to act decisively in an emergency, deserves acknowledgment and appreciation. Well done Ofc. Boulay, thank you for your dedication to our residents and the City of New Bedford!
