Busy Night for Narotics Detectives Leads to Gun and Drug Seizures

Last week, detectives assigned to the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau made two significant arrests following investigations conducted on Thursday night.

On May 8th at around 3 p.m., detectives were made aware of suspicious activity in the area of the Blue Meadows housing development.  Further surveillance led the investigators to approach a parked vehicle with multiple occupants.  As they did so, a juvenile was observed attempting to conceal a cross-body bag he had been wearing.  This bag was later found to contain a loaded Glock 19 firearm with a high-capacity magazine.  The juvenile was taken into custody and held on $10,000 bail.

The arresting officer was Det. Jacob Rebello.

Shortly thereafter, detectives were monitoring activity in the parking lot of a hotel on Hathaway Road when they observed a suspected drug transaction.  As a result of their observations, detectives followed and eventually stopped the suspect’s vehicle at the Nauset Street/Mt. Pleasant Street intersection.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of over 41 grams of “crack” cocaine and $1,914 that was seized as drug proceeds.  NORMAN SILVA, 25, of 157 Hathaway St., was taken into custody and charged with cocaine trafficking in excess of 36 grams.

The arresting officer was Det. David Wallant.
