Six People Arrested Following South End Drug Raid

NEW BEDFORD — Detectives have arrested six people following a drug raid inside a south-end home.

On Thursday, May 29th, Det. Stephanie Connolly concluded an investigation into a cocaine distribution service being operated out of 69 South Street Apt. 1. A search warrant was authorized, with the target being all persons present.

As a result of the search that followed, detectives located 16 grams of powdered and crack cocaine, digital scales, packaging material, two rounds of .22 caliber ammo, and $2,302 in US currency, which was seized as a result of drug proceeds.

The following people were arrested and charged:

  • JOSHUA HIGHTOWER, 38, of 69 SOUTH STREET APT. 1 – possession to distribute a class B drug, possession of a class B drug, and conspiracy to violate the drug law
  • ROBERT SILVA , 31, of 60 AVERY STREET – possession of a class B drug and possession of ammunition without an FID card
  • SHANNON SMITH , 49, of 24 CRAPO STREET -possession of a class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law
  • ASHLEY MCSWEEN LIM, 39, of 1 DAVID COURT APT. 1 – possession of a class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law
  • TERRENCE BATTLE, 50, of PROVIDENCE, RI – possession of a class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law, warrant arrest
  • LIJAH FORTES, 28, of 69 SOUTH STREET APT. 1 – possession of a class B drug and conspiracy to violate the drug law

“This investigation reflects our department’s ongoing commitment to keeping drugs and illegal activity out of our City,” said Acting Chief Derek Belong. “I commend Det. Connolly and all involved officers for their excellent work.”

The assisting officers were Detectives Eric Boulay, Matt Couture, Jonathan Miranda, David Wallant, and Officers Tyler White, Bruce Nicely, and Jason Molleo.
