Vocational students get hands-on police lesson
Juniors in the legal and protective services program at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School visited police headquarters Tuesday to participate in a mock armed robbery of a phone store scenario to test their skills and judgment.
Thank you to Officer Kurt Gonsalves for being our first responding officer, Kelly Almeida for playing our victim, retired NBPD Officer Octavio “Tacky’’ Pragana for being our suspect, Officer Alberto Silva for being our Detective, Gillian Sampson and Craig Rebeiro for being our paramedics, Capt. Steven Vicente for being our supervisor, and cadet Mason Galary for assisting us.
We hope the hands-in lessons taught by our staff will demonstrate to the students the challenges and rewards of police work.
