Wanted 17-year-old Arrested with Loaded .357 Magnum
NEW BEDFORD — On Monday, May 5th, detectives conducted surveillance in the South End sector of the city, targeting street-level narcotics sales and other criminal activity.
At 6:30 p.m., detectives observed a 17-year-old juvenile known to New Bedford police to have three active warrants for his arrest. When detectives tried to approach him on Wing Street, he began to run. Following a brief foot pursuit, the juvenile was apprehended and taken into custody. While placing him in handcuffs, detectives located a Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum, loaded with four rounds of ammo.
The juvenile was transported to Brockton and was ordered not to receive bail.
He was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammo without an FID card, and a warrant arrest.
The arresting officer was Det. Stephanie Connolly.
